Montgomery County Search and Rescue Team Partners

PARTNERS

The Montgomery County Search and Rescue Team partners with local, state and federal organizations to better serve our communities. Our goal is to offer our help in any capacity to all law enforcement agencies throughout the Montgomery County area. We go where we are needed and where we can have a positive impact on a situation.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD) is widely recognized for their contributions to the community and has the difficult task of maintaining order in the 4th largest growing county in Texas. Our Team is proud to partner with MCSD on local search missions to help facilitate the location and rescue of lost or missing persons. We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship for years to come. For questions or more information about MCSD please go to their website www.mocosheriff.com.

National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR) is an all volunteer, non-profit, and self-supporting organization made up of individuals who are interested and actively involved in search and rescue operations throughout the United States. NASAR is also active in the advancement and education of search and rescue, and provides training for many local search and rescue organizations. MOCSAR has been a member of NASAR since its creation and has utilized its training for our volunteers. For more information about NASAR please go to their website at www.nasar.org.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) The CERT program was developed because of the need for a trained civilian emergency workforce. The CERT program was first developed by the Los Angeles Fire Department in 1985. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) now uses the program as a national model for other communities, and President Bush endorses this training as part of the Citizen Corps Program. The CERT Program provides for community self-sufficiency through the development of multifunctional response teams who act as adjunct to the county’s emergency services during major disasters. CERT members can also assist with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of their community. MOCSAR has teamed up with CERT to help provide training to volunteers in the specific area of Search and Rescue. To learn more about the CERT program and how you can help please go to the Office of Emergency Management’s website at http://www.co.montgomery.tx.us/mctxoem/cert.shtml.

Federal Emergency Management Assistance (FEMA) is an independent federal agency headquartered in Washington, D.C. FEMA is part of the nation's emergency management system and works with other organizations after a disaster has occurred to provide disaster assistance and coordinate federal response. MOCSAR is available for service to FEMA here at home and in our neighboring states. Check out their website www.fema.gov to learn more.
