MOCSAR callout on Sunday, March 1 at 19:45 to search for a 13 year-old boy missing since 12 noon in the area near Lake Stubblefield.  The teen was last seen participating in an orienteering training exercise with many other youngsters, being conducted south of Forest Service Road 216 (FSR-216).

MOCSAR coordinated ground search efforts with participation by national, state, county and local agencies.  The search efforts continued throughout the night with below freezing temperatures.  The subject was spotted by a helicopter about 10:30 on Monday, March 2.  He was in good condition and walked out of the forest with a rescue team.

The GPS tracks and waypoints shown below on the GoogleEarth image were recorded by one of the MOCSAR search teams, and show the focus of the searches in the red-circled area of the orienteering exercise.  It is not known why the teen wandered so far and in the wrong direction from the trail area.

Location Montgomery County Key Map 72C.
